Job Overview:

A highly regarded law firm specializing in labor and employment law is seeking an experienced Of Counsel attorney for its Portland, OR office. The ideal candidate will have significant litigation experience and expertise in employment-related legal matters, including defending employers in court and before administrative agencies. This position offers the opportunity to provide legal counsel on a variety of labor and employment regulations and to represent clients in complex employment disputes.

Location:

  • Portland, OR

Duties:

  • Defend and litigate lawsuits involving employment-related claims, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other employment tort cases.
  • Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, at mediations, and in arbitration.
  • Handle class and collective actions, as well as non-compete and contract disputes.
  • Provide legal counsel and advice to employers on a wide range of labor and employment laws and regulations.
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, ensuring timely and thorough communication with clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on labor and employment law strongly preferred.
  • Experience defending employers in employment disputes and handling administrative charges of discrimination.
  • Active Oregon Bar admission or the ability to obtain admission quickly.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal court procedures, as well as employment-related administrative agency procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials are required.

Certifications:

  • Active bar admission in Oregon or the ability to be admitted promptly.
