A law firm seeks an experienced associate to join its national Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) practice in Washington, DC. This role advises clients on transactions that combine tax credits and government incentives to finance and develop affordable housing and community revitalization projects.

Duties:

  • Assist clients, including investors and syndicators, in structuring and executing financing for affordable housing projects utilizing LIHTCs and other government incentives.
  • Support the development and revitalization of underserved communities by advising on housing and commercial development initiatives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transactional documents related to tax credit financing and community development projects.
  • Analyze financial projections for affordable housing projects and provide strategic counsel to clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and program requirements.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of transactional legal experience, with a focus on LIHTCs or related areas.
  • Familiarity with real estate finance, government incentive programs, and affordable housing development.
  • Strong knowledge of partnership and limited liability company structures.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial projections.
  • Excellent judgment, communication, and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Washington, DC, or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective team player with the ability to collaborate across practice areas.
