Litigation Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a highly motivated and driven 1st-year Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney interested in insurance defense litigation, with a focus on construction defect and casualty matters. The ideal candidate will possess strong writing and research skills, and while experience in construction defect litigation or personal injury is preferred, it is not required. Duties:

• Manage cases from inception to conclusion, focusing on insurance defense litigation.
• Conduct legal research and prepare written briefs, motions, and pleadings.
• Handle pre-litigation tasks including discovery responses, depositions, and case preparation.
• Work closely with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and manage complex litigation.
• Assist in the preparation of cases for trial, including drafting legal documents and coordinating witness testimony.
• Communicate with clients to provide legal counsel, case updates, and manage expectations.
• Participate in settlement negotiations, mediation sessions, and trials as required.
• Attend client meetings and fieldwork as necessary (in-person attendance in Poway, CA required occasionally).

Requirements:

• Must be a 1st-year attorney with a strong interest in insurance defense litigation.
• Ability to conduct thorough legal research and produce high-quality written work.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Willingness to learn and grow professionally with guidance from senior attorneys.
• Must live within driving distance of Poway, CA, for occasional in-person meetings and fieldwork.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active California State Bar license (required).
