Job Overview:
A premier law firm in the Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated immigration attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience to join a growing team. The successful candidate will manage a caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal assistants, with opportunities for career advancement and professional growth.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Develop strategy and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage and maintain a workload of immigration cases
  • Visit and conduct intake with detained individuals at centers
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments
  • Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine necessary strategies
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to assess potential case benefits
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Strong team player, open to collaborating with fellow associates
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active state bar membership

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters and strategize effectively
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficient in legal research, case management, and drafting legal documents
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
