Associate Attorney Insurance Defense / Commercial Litigation

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its defense team in Sunrise, FL. This full-time position focuses on insurance defense, commercial litigation, and construction law. The firm offers a collaborative work environment where attorneys are expected to manage litigation cases independently and progress through all stages of the litigation process. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of civil litigation experience, particularly in construction and insurance defense matters, and will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic team setting.

Duties:

• Manage all phases of litigation, from initial case evaluation through trial preparation and resolution.
• Handle insurance defense and commercial litigation cases, including construction-related disputes.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
• Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating with senior attorneys and other team members.
• Provide clients with legal counsel, case updates, and strategic guidance.
• Assist with case strategy development and manage case files to ensure timely progression.

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on insurance defense, commercial litigation, or construction law.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Experience with handling cases from inception to trial.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team setting.
• A proactive approach to case management and client communication.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Florida, with an active Florida Bar membership in good standing.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Westlaw or similar legal research tools.
• Strong litigation and case management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of construction, insurance, and commercial litigation is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and managing caseloads effectively.
