Job Overview: A law firm in Newark, NJ, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mid-Level Restructuring and Insolvency Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in finance and bankruptcy law, including experience with both secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructuring. Specific experience with franchisors and representing financial institutions in all debtor/creditor relations phases is desirable. The role involves working closely with experienced attorneys, with active mentoring and opportunities for increasing levels of responsibility and client contact.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including secured and unsecured creditors.
  • Assist in out-of-court restructuring processes and negotiations.
  • Provide legal counsel on financial matters and debtor/creditor relations.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and client advice.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and strategic planning.
  • Manage a caseload with a focus on providing high-quality client service.
  • Stay updated on legal developments in finance and bankruptcy law.
  • Attend and participate in court hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring effective communication and satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar in New Jersey.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in finance and bankruptcy law.
  • Experience representing secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructuring.
  • Desirable experience with franchisors and financial institutions in debtor/creditor relations.
  • Strong academic credentials and a proven track record of high performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar in New Jersey.
