The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters, with specific expertise in the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), U.S. export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This role is ideal for a legal professional looking to work in a collaborative environment, providing strategic advice and representation to clients in complex international trade matters.Key Responsibilities:Advise clients on regulatory requirements and risks related to international trade, export controls, and foreign investments.Provide legal counsel and guidance on CFIUS filings, reviews, and mitigation agreements.Ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and ITAR.Represent clients in enforcement actions and investigations related to violations of export control laws and regulations.Assist clients in developing internal compliance programs, policies, and procedures in line with U.S. trade laws.Conduct due diligence and risk assessments for transactions involving foreign investments.Support clients in obtaining export licenses and drafting voluntary disclosures when necessary.Monitor and interpret changes in U.S. and international trade laws, providing updates and strategic advice to clients.Assist with the development of training programs for clients to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant trade laws.Collaborate with other departments within the firm on matters involving cross-border transactions, mergers, and acquisitions.Work closely with governmental agencies, including the U.S. Department of Commerce, Department of State, and Department of Defense, regarding export controls and trade regulations.Qualifications and Requirements:2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.Proven experience working with CFIUS, U.S. export controls, ITAR, and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocations System (DPAS) is preferred.Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding foreign investments in the U.S.Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.Must be admitted to practice law and actively barred in the state of North Carolina.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active Bar admission in North Carolina.Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in interpreting complex legal and regulatory language.Excellent client service skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.Knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal research software.
