Entry Level Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team in Bakersfield. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a new attorney to gain valuable immigration law experience and advance their career in a supportive, growing environment. The successful candidate will manage a caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of experienced attorneys and legal assistants under the guidance of the Managing Immigration Attorney.

Location:

• Bakersfield, CA

Duties:

• Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
• Manage a caseload of immigration cases and provide client support
• Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
• Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
• Review immigration applications and make necessary adjustments
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on changes in immigration law
• Meet with potential clients to provide strategic immigration consultations and determine appropriate legal strategies
• Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
• Provide legal analysis to determine potential case benefits for clients
• Draft and submit legal briefs for immigration cases

Requirements:

• Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active bar admission (or pending admission for law graduates)
• Strong ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
• A team player who is open to collaborating and strategizing with colleagues
• Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish) but not required
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

• Active Bar admission (or pending admission for recent graduates)
