Duties:

  • Represent clients in deportation and removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on asylum, withholding of removal, cancellation of removal, and other immigration relief options.
  • Draft and file legal briefs, motions, and other documents with immigration courts and agencies.
  • Represent clients at hearings and trials, advocating on their behalf with zeal.
  • Provide clients with legal advice on various aspects of immigration law, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
  • Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring deadlines are met and clients receive consistent updates.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure comprehensive legal representation.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in New York State or any other U.S. state or territory.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in immigration law, specifically focusing on deportation defense.
  • Strong understanding of immigration law, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice and immigrant rights.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLM from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in New York or another U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, particularly deportation defense.
  • Strong legal writing and drafting abilities.
  • Skilled in legal research and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish (preferred).
