A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Career Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience defending employers in single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases, as well as ERISA litigation. This role requires occasional in-office presence for meetings, depositions, and court appearances. The successful candidate will possess an excellent academic record, strong experience in defending employment actions, and exceptional communication skills. Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Duties:

  • Defend employers in employment-related litigation, including single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases.
  • Represent clients in ERISA litigation and related employment matters.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments.
  • Attend and participate in depositions, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies in collaboration with clients.
  • Manage a diverse caseload efficiently, ensuring compliance with deadlines and court requirements.
  • Stay current with developments in labor and employment law and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in employment litigation matters.
  • Proven track record in defending employers before agencies and courts.
  • Strong academic background with a comprehensive understanding of labor and employment law.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage complex cases and meet deadlines.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of Washington, DC, or eligibility to obtain admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in employment law, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and ERISA litigation.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
