Job Overview: A law firm seeks a motivated and experienced Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Associate Attorney to join its Kansas City, MO office. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile bankruptcy cases and creditors' rights matters on a national scale. The successful candidate will work across various industries, providing business-oriented solutions to clients in bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings, and out-of-court restructurings.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings, and state court receiverships.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on insolvency issues and creditors' rights in both litigation and transactional settings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings, related to bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters.
  • Develop creative legal solutions for businesses across diverse industries, such as real estate, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with a national team of attorneys to handle sophisticated bankruptcy and restructuring work.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their goals and provide tailored legal strategies.

Requirements:

  • Active Missouri Bar licensure or eligibility to waive into Missouri practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in bankruptcy and creditors' rights law, or relevant legal experience in insolvency matters.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and work collaboratively within a national practice group.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Missouri State Bar (or ability to waive in).

Skills:

  • Expertise in bankruptcy and creditors' rights law.
  • Strong legal drafting and research capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
