A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a dedicated Student Services and Special Education Associate Attorney with 7 years of practice experience. The candidate will assist clients in navigating the individualized education program (IEP) process, provide workshops, review policies, handle compliance complaints, and represent clients in administrative due process hearings.

Duties:

  • Assist clients in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal memoranda, and provide written and oral advice on special education law issues.
  • Present workshops and trainings to educators, administrators, and parents on special education rights and procedures.
  • Review and revise school district policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws.
  • Represent clients in state and federal compliance complaints and administrative due process hearings.
  • Collaborate with school districts, parents, and advocacy organizations to resolve disputes and advocate for students' rights.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
  • Minimum of 7 years of practice experience in education law, with a focus on special education.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws governing special education, including IDEA and Section 504.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience conducting administrative hearings or litigation related to education law matters preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
