Job Overview

A leading law firm in Austin specializing in intellectual property law is seeking an experienced U.S. Patent Attorney to join its growing practice. This is a fully remote position, providing an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate with expertise in patent preparation and prosecution. The role involves advising clients on intellectual property rights, including patents, technical data, trade secrets, and more. Candidates must have a strong background in patent law, with a minimum of three years of experience and a technical degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or physics.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for clients.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on intellectual property rights, including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, and licenses.
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations to protect client intellectual property.
  • Manage patent dockets and ensure timely submission of all related legal documents.
  • Conduct quality control and work product reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Interface with clients to provide guidance on patent law and prosecution strategies.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by firm partners.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Expertise in handling intellectual property matters, particularly patents.
  • Registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong understanding of patent laws and intellectual property regulations.

Education

  • B.S. or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or physics.

Certifications

  • Licensed and registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality legal output.
  • Familiarity with patent docketing and legal document management.
