Job Title: Commercial Foreclosure Attorney

Location: New York City, NY

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its commercial loan workout and foreclosure department. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in commercial loan workouts and mortgage foreclosure litigation, with a strong understanding of foreclosure procedures specific to New Jersey.

Duties:

  • Manage commercial mortgage foreclosure cases from initiation to resolution.
  • Conduct legal research and draft necessary pleadings, motions, and court documents.
  • Oversee a caseload of foreclosure litigation, ensuring adherence to all deadlines.
  • Represent clients in court settings, including trials, hearings, and depositions.
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys and legal staff to provide exceptional legal services.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case developments and consultations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law institution.
  • Admission to the Bar in New Jersey and/or New York.
  • At least 2 years of experience in foreclosure litigation.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success in managing litigation from inception through trial.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice in New Jersey and/or New York.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of foreclosure laws and regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • High accuracy in managing legal documents and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills for handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in foreclosure-related software and systems, such as Lexus Nexus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and legal teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality work.

This firm is as New York-centric as they come, with East Coast roots almost 150 years old. With relatively inexpensive corporate services, including banking, corporate, labor, municipal and trust and estates departments, this firm is quite happy to remain a strong regional firm. To be sure, this firm can not be confused with the 'white shoe' New York firm. The perks are modest here, as are associate salaries. The attitude is grounded, though, and associates remark that they feel good knowing that their clients got great representation at a reasonable cost, and revel in the long-term relationships such customer service garners.
