Duties:
Review and assess potential civil rights cases by conducting thorough legal research to evaluate their merits.
Manage the litigation process for civil rights cases, including drafting pleadings, overseeing discovery, and preparing and arguing complex motions.
Take depositions and represent clients in court when necessary.
Engage with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals, to provide legal counsel and support.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and team members to strategize and develop case approaches.
Requirements:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Active license to practice law.
2-5 years of litigation experience, with a preference for experience in civil rights, constitutional law, or trial work.
Strong legal research and writing abilities, with a focus on complex motions and case law analysis.
Experience handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals.
A genuine interest in civil rights advocacy and advancing case law.
Strong commitment to justice and social change through legal means.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
Must hold an active license to practice law.
