A prominent law firm in Los Angeles is actively seeking a highly experienced Lateral Real Estate Partner with a robust and portable book of business, ideally valued at $1.5M or more. The ideal candidate will bring a diverse real estate practice that spans development projects, acquisitions, sales, financing transactions, leasing, and joint venture structures. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a broad real estate practice, providing legal counsel on development projects, acquisitions, sales, and financing transactions.
  • Represent clients in complex real estate matters, including commercial leasing, joint ventures, and real estate financing.
  • Guide clients through all stages of real estate development, from land acquisition and entitlement to construction and final sale or lease.
  • Negotiate and draft legal agreements related to real estate acquisitions, sales, and leasing, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting client interests.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on joint venture transactions, structuring deals that maximize value for all parties involved.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys in the firm to deliver comprehensive legal services across practice areas, including tax, corporate, and environmental law.
  • Mentor and support junior attorneys, fostering their development in real estate law and related transactions.
  • Engage in business development efforts to expand the firm’s real estate practice, leveraging existing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Maintain and grow a strong client base by providing high-quality legal services and building long-term relationships.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on development projects, acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, and joint ventures.
  • A portable book of business valued at $1.5M or more is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of managing complex real estate transactions, including commercial and industrial projects.
  • Strong experience in negotiating and drafting agreements related to real estate financing, joint ventures, and leasing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships, particularly with institutional and repeat business clients.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or senior role within a law firm is preferred.

Educational Background:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.

Certifications:

  • Additional certifications in real estate law, commercial transactions, or related fields are advantageous but not required.
  • Ongoing Continuing Legal Education (CLE) focused on real estate, finance, and commercial transactions is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of real estate law, including development, acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing, and joint ventures.
