Job Title: Workers Compensation Attorney

Job Overview: A reputable law firm located in Chicago, IL, is seeking to add a skilled Workers' Compensation Attorney to its team. This position offers the flexibility of both part-time and full-time work and provides an excellent opportunity to manage a variety of workers' compensation and occupational disease claims for clients including corporations, municipalities, and local government entities. The role involves handling cases from start to finish, providing counsel to clients, and representing them in legal matters related to workers' compensation.

Duties:

  • Organize, maintain, and manage case files from the initiation of claims through to appeals.
  • Advise clients on their rights and responsibilities under the Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Diseases Acts.
  • Draft legal documents and prepare for hearings before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission (IWCC) and other courts.
  • Represent clients in hearings and communicate regularly with them to provide updates and guidance on case progress.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality legal representation and timely case management.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in workers' compensation or defense litigation.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Illinois State Bar membership.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Illinois workers' compensation law.
  • Ability to handle complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Client-focused with the ability to build strong professional relationships.
