A law firm seeks a talented and experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Transactional Associate for its Charlotte office. This mid-level role is designed for a motivated attorney with at least three years of experience, particularly focusing on patent acquisition and licensing. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in patent law and demonstrate strong transactional skills related to intellectual property. Duties

  • Advise clients on patent acquisition, licensing agreements, and other IP transactional matters.
  • Manage a variety of patent transactions, including negotiations and contract drafting.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex IP transactions, ensuring timely and effective deal execution.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and provide strategic advice based on industry trends and precedents.
  • Draft and review licensing agreements, patent-related contracts, and other IP-related documents.
  • Stay up to date with developments in patent law and related regulations.
  • Support clients through the transactional lifecycle, from initial negotiation to post-deal matters.
  • Work on high-profile, challenging IP transactions while developing a reputation for providing practical and creative solutions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of experience in intellectual property, specifically patent law and transactional matters.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in patent licensing and acquisition.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience advising clients in complex IP transactions.
  • Ability to navigate intricate legal and regulatory requirements within the IP space.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the North Carolina State Bar is preferred.
  • Admission to other state bars may be considered.
