Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in complex litigation matters, with a focus on healthcare and/or energy sectors.
  • Handle all stages of litigation, including case evaluation, drafting pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Draft, file, and argue motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trials, effectively advocating for clients.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed legal memoranda to support case strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop and execute case strategies.
  • Oversee the discovery process, including document review, preparation of interrogatories, and managing depositions.
  • Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution when applicable.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and strategic legal advice.
  • Stay current with developments and trends in healthcare and energy litigation.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3+ years of litigation experience.
    • Preferred experience in healthcare and/or energy litigation.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and effectively represent clients in court.
  • Education:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Licensure and Certifications:
    • Active license to practice law in West Virginia is required.
