A law firm in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a skilled Chemistry IP Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry or significant industrial experience, complemented by expertise in patent law, particularly in drafting and prosecuting chemistry patent applications.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute chemistry patent applications, particularly in organic chemistry.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical documents.
  • Provide counsel on intellectual property matters related to chemistry and pharmaceuticals.
  • Collaborate with clients and inventors to assess patentability and draft patent specifications.
  • Assist in patent litigation and enforcement actions related to chemistry patents.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in chemistry, with a focus on organic chemistry.
  • 2-6 years of experience in intellectual property law, specifically in patent prosecution.
  • Admission to at least one State Bar (Indiana preferred) and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Superior academic credentials and demonstrated success in drafting and prosecuting chemistry patents.

Education and Certifications:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or related field.
  • Admission to at least one State Bar (preferably Indiana).
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
