Job Overview:

A respected law firm in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking an Associate Attorney specializing in personal injury law. This role involves managing various personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents, slips and falls, dog bites, and wrongful death claims. The ideal candidate will have experience interacting with clients, insurance companies, and other legal professionals. The position requires strong legal writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.

Duties:

  • Manage client inquiries, and phone screenings, and schedule client meetings.
  • Use case and file management systems to manage appointments and communications.
  • Interact with clients regularly, providing case updates and addressing their concerns.
  • Open and manage insurance claims, including communication with first and third-party insurance companies, health insurance providers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Request, review, and summarize medical records and billing statements to prepare settlement demands.
  • Participate in litigation-related tasks, such as drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and responses.
  • Take and defend depositions, attend hearings, and create litigation materials such as motions and exhibit binders.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all case-related materials and deadlines.

Requirements:

  • 0-3 years of legal experience, with a preference for personal injury or litigation experience.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, insurance companies, and legal professionals.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the New Mexico State Bar or eligibility to obtain it.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New Mexico.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
