Insurance Defense Litigation Associate

Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Litigation Associate to join its New York office. This role offers the opportunity to handle a diverse range of cases, including general liability, personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and dram shop claims. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex litigation matters, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court. A hybrid work arrangement is available for this position.

Duties

• Represent clients in various aspects of insurance defense litigation, including case investigations, discovery, and trial preparation.

• Handle a diverse caseload involving personal injury, slip and falls, premises liability, and related claims.

• Draft and file legal pleadings, motions, and other court documents.

• Conduct depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.

• Advocate for clients in court, attending hearings, motions, and trials.

• Provide strategic legal counsel and maintain clear communication with clients throughout the litigation process.

• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case management.

• Conduct in-depth legal research to support case strategies.

• Negotiate settlements while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation.

• Trial experience and the ability to manage complex litigation cases preferred.

• Proficiency in handling depositions, mediations, and court appearances.

• Strong legal research, negotiation, and communication skills.

• Ability to handle multiple cases efficiently while meeting deadlines.

• Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Westlaw.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Bar membership in New York (additional Bar admissions are a plus).
