Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with experience in general liability or personal injury cases. This position requires an attorney who can handle a substantial caseload, conduct legal research, negotiate settlements, and represent clients in court. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, the ability to manage complex cases, and a passion for advocating for clients' rights.

Duties:

  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including briefs, settlement offers, discovery motions, motions for summary judgment, and trial motions.
  • Take and defend depositions at all levels, including witnesses, parties, and experts.
  • Correspond with clients and opposing counsel regarding case developments.
  • Interview clients to gather case details, identify legal issues, and devise a strategy for settlement or trial.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel on behalf of clients.
  • Prepare cases for trial by interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and conducting investigations.
  • Assist clients in preparing for mediation sessions and settlement conferences.
  • Educate clients on their legal rights and responsibilities throughout the process.
  • Prepare and file court documents, such as complaints and motions.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, advocating for their best interests.

Requirements:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • At least 3 years of experience in general liability or personal injury law.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Ability to negotiate favorable and cost-effective settlements.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a large and complex caseload.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities.
  • Empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and client-focused approach.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills, including depositions and courtroom experience.
  • Advanced legal research and analytical capabilities.
  • Negotiation skills for favorable settlements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Client-centered approach with empathy and emotional intelligence.
