Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A growing law firm is seeking a talented and motivated Litigation Associate to join its San Diego office. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in insurance defense, with a focus on personal injury, habitability, toxic tort, insurance fraud, and general liability matters. This position offers the opportunity to work on all aspects of case handling, including drafting motions, taking depositions, and representing clients in settlement conferences and court appearances. Location:

Duties:

• Handle all aspects of case management for insurance defense matters, including personal injury, habitability, toxic tort, insurance fraud, and general liability.
• Draft briefs, motions for summary judgment, and responses to written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions, participate in court appearances, and attend settlement conferences.
• Conduct law and motion work, including preparing and arguing motions.
• Summarize medical records and third-party documents for case evaluation.
• Participate in mediation and settlement negotiations.
• Travel as required for depositions, court appearances, and client meetings.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop case strategies.

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years of litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense.
• Experience in summarizing medical records and third-party documents.
• Proven ability to draft motions, conduct discovery, and handle law and motion work.
• Experience taking and defending depositions, along with attending court appearances.
• Familiarity with settlement conferences, mediation, and trial preparation (trial experience is a plus but not required).
• Self-starter with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
• Ability to manage cases efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel as needed for litigation-related matters.
• Valid California State Bar membership (no exceptions).

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership with the California State Bar (required).
