Job Overview

A reputable law firm is seeking a Technical Advisor or Junior Patent Agent to join its Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech team within the Intellectual Property Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to work under the supervision of an Intellectual Property Partner and collaborate with a team of life sciences legal professionals. The role involves working on patent prosecution matters and provides a pathway for scientists to transition into patent law.

Duties

• Apply advanced concepts across life sciences fields, with an emphasis on molecular biology and/or cell biology.
• Study and analyze scientific and technical documents.
• Draft patent applications.
• Assist in the prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Conduct prior art searches and analyses, including landscape, patentability, and freedom-to-operate evaluations.

Requirements

• Strong writing, research, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively with others.

Education

• Advanced degree (PhD) in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Cell Biology, or related biological sciences.

Certifications and Skills

• No specific certifications required, though experience in patent prosecution or related technical fields is advantageous.
• Strong research and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in drafting and reviewing technical documents.
