Job Overview:

A Long Beach, CA-based law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to focus on litigating elder neglect cases against nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This role requires strong analytical and writing skills, with a focus on reviewing medical records, drafting legal documents, and participating in litigation processes. The position offers a hybrid work schedule with opportunities for remote work.

Location:

  • Long Beach, California

Duties:

  • Review and analyze medical records and other case-related documents.

  • Prepare narrative summaries translating complex medical information into clear legal language.

  • Identify key witnesses and gather relevant evidence.

  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, correspondence, and other legal documents.

  • Conduct depositions and defend depositions as necessary.

  • Make court appearances and participate in hearings and trials.

Requirements:

  • Strong writing and analytical skills, particularly in summarizing medical information.

  • Familiarity with regulations governing nursing homes and assisted living facilities is preferred.

  • Significant knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing with the State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and research abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to translate complex medical information into clear, concise legal narratives.

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Litigation experience is preferred but not required.
