Job Overview: A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a Patent Development and Strategy Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will provide strategic patent prosecution and counseling services, leveraging their chemical engineering or chemistry expertise and experience in large or mid-sized law firms.

Job Duties:

  • Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, business professionals, and third parties verbally and in writing.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables, answer inquiries promptly, and respond to correspondence efficiently.
  • Ensure all work products are accurate, timely, and meet firm standards.
  • Manage deadlines and expectations while adhering to firm policies and practices.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships internally and externally.
  • Engage in various activities, including computer work, virtual conference calls, and meetings as required.
  • Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Registration with the USPTO.
  • JD degree and admission to practice in Massachusetts.
  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Direct experience drafting patent applications, freedom to operate opinions, and due diligence.
  • Familiarity with patent prosecution and client counseling.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills.
  • Attention to detail and good business judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Persuasive communication and influencing skills.
  • Management experience preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
  • Capacity for strategic and critical thinking.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
