Junior-/Mid-Level Patent Attorney

A law firm is seeking a Junior-/Mid-Level Patent Attorney for their Washington, D.C. office. This position involves conducting patent searches, analyzing technology advancements, and preparing patent applications for filing with the USPTO and internationally. The ideal candidate will contribute to crafting and managing IP and patent portfolios for clients.

Job Overview:

• Title: Junior-/Mid-Level Patent Attorney

Duties:

• Conduct patent searches and analysis
• Review and understand advances in technology
• Prepare and file patent applications with the USPTO and internationally
• Contribute to crafting and managing IP and patent portfolios for clients

Requirements:

• JD and actively licensed as an attorney in a U.S. jurisdiction
• Eligible to waive into the D.C. Bar or willing and eligible to sit for the D.C. Bar
• Masters or PhD preferred in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, organic chemistry, molecular genetics, human genetics, chemical engineering, immunology, or related scientific discipline
• 3-5 years practicing patent prosecution at another law firm
• USPTO registration number preferred
• Strong foundation in IP and patent law
• Previous wet lab experience preferred
• Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and concisely
• Stellar academic credentials

Education and Certifications:

• JD or better
• PhD or better in a relevant scientific discipline
