Mid-Level Finance & Bankruptcy Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Finance and Bankruptcy Practice in New York. Duties:

• Represent debtors, creditors' committees, lenders, and debt/equity investors in complex bankruptcy and financial restructuring matters.
• Draft legal documents, including bankruptcy petitions, first-day pleadings, motions, disclosure statements, and reorganization plans.
• Handle bankruptcy-related litigation, including preference and fraudulent conveyance actions, foreclosures, and contested plans.
• Represent DIP lenders and borrowers in bankruptcy proceedings.
• Advise clients involved in Section 363 asset sales, including sellers, stalking horse bidders, and competing bidders.
• Prosecute and defend breach of fiduciary duty claims against insolvent companies.
• Provide legal guidance to clients preparing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience representing debtors, creditors' committees, lenders, and debt/equity investors.
• Proficiency in drafting bankruptcy-related legal documents and managing bankruptcy motion practice.
• Litigation experience in preference actions, fraudulent conveyance, foreclosures, and contested plans.
• Experience with DIP lending, Section 363 sales, and fiduciary duty claims in bankruptcy contexts.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of business accounting issues as they relate to insolvency and restructuring.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Strong academic credentials are required.

Certifications:

• Active admission to the New York State Bar.

• Expertise in bankruptcy and financial restructuring.
• Strong legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
