Trial Attorney

A law firm in Saint Petersburg, FL, is seeking a skilled Trial Attorney to join their litigation team. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal, representing clients primarily in civil and insurance defense matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions on various issues related to ongoing cases.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses.
• Represent clients in court trials and hearings, presenting arguments and examining witnesses.
• Prepare and present motions, including summary judgment and other dispositive motions.
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients when appropriate.
• Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Florida Bar with good standing.
• 3+ years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on insurance defense preferred.
• Proven ability to handle a caseload independently from inception to resolution.
• Strong courtroom skills, including the ability to conduct trials and argue motions effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in handling insurance defense litigation.
• Familiarity with local court rules and procedures.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software.

Certifications:

• Certification in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar is a plus.
