A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team in Richmond, VA. This full-time position provides an opportunity for an attorney to represent clients in a dynamic and diverse caseload. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, administrative staff, and senior partners to provide high-quality legal services in immigration matters. The ideal candidate will be proficient in legal research, writing, and communication, and will thrive in using modern technology to manage cases efficiently.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, advocating for their interests and presenting motions.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and offering well-informed courses of action.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Supervise administrative staff, including paralegals, law clerks, and assistants, to ensure efficient case management.
  • Prepare various legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and client correspondence.
  • Identify potential conflicts in cases and collaborate with senior partners to develop case strategies and resolution options.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with clients regarding case updates and legal strategies.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in representing clients in a law firm setting.
  • Active membership in your local bar association (preferred).
  • Strong public speaking, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of legal research platforms, such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the local state bar (preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in legal research and document preparation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Public speaking and advocacy in legal proceedings.
  • Ability to manage a team of support staff, including paralegals and clerks.
