Associate Attorney needed for New York City office

A law firm specializing in arbitration and mediation is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3-7 years of experience to join its New York City office. The role involves handling all aspects of pre-trial litigation, particularly in maritime and admiralty law, construction law, general liability, and insurance coverage. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, research, and writing skills and be capable of managing a significant level of responsibility independently.

Duties:

• Manage all aspects of pre-trial litigation in both New York state and federal courts.
• Draft pleadings, handle discovery, and develop case strategies.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Draft and argue motions and appeals.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and experts.
• Analyze risks and work toward case resolution.
• Gain trial experience through case management.
• Meet a minimum billing requirement of 1900 hours per year.

Requirements:

• 3-7 years of litigation experience.
• Strong organizational, research, and writing skills.
• Ability to independently manage a significant level of responsibility.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• Additional bar admissions are a plus.

Skills:
