A law firm seeks an experienced labor and employment attorney to join its team in Omaha, Nebraska. Duties:

  • Litigation Defense: Represent and defend clients in federal and state court cases involving various employment-related claims, including jury trials and agency charges or citations.
  • Regulatory Guidance: Provide proactive counsel to employers on a range of labor and employment laws, ensuring compliance with both state and federal regulations.
  • Policy Development: Draft, review, and revise employment policies, handbooks, contracts, separation agreements, and other employment-related documents.
  • Investigations & Risk Mitigation: Conduct or assist with internal audits and investigations, providing risk management strategies to minimize liability.
  • Safety Compliance: Advise on occupational health and safety laws, support clients during internal or governmental investigations, and defend against safety-related citations or lawsuits.
  • Labor Relations: Develop strategies for maintaining union-free workplaces and advise unionized employers on labor issues, including collective bargaining and grievance arbitration.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in labor and employment law, with expertise in both litigation and advisory capacities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including anti-discrimination, wage and hour regulations, workplace safety, accommodations, and employee leave laws.
  • Proven ability to manage cases independently with minimal oversight.
  • A client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering responsive and high-quality service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts concisely.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Nebraska or eligible to obtain licensure.
