A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Associate Attorney to join a reputable construction litigation team in Tampa, FL. This full-time, remote position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload with minimal supervision, handling all stages of civil litigation. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in civil litigation, with a preference for experience in construction or insurance defense. The firm provides an excellent team-oriented environment and the chance to work on complex and challenging cases.

Duties:

  • Case Management: Handle all stages of litigation, from inception to resolution, with minimal supervision.
  • Legal Strategy: Develop and implement case strategies, including preparing motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and trials, ensuring effective advocacy in court.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient and effective case management.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, providing case updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Negotiation: Participate in settlement discussions and negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on issues related to construction and insurance defense law.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 1-3 years of civil litigation experience, with a preference for insurance defense or construction litigation.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures, insurance defense, and construction law.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively represent clients in court and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Florida Bar License: Must be licensed to practice in Florida or eligible for reciprocity.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Florida Bar License (or eligibility for Florida Bar admission).

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills and experience with all stages of civil litigation.
  • Negotiation skills and experience in settlement discussions.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in legal software such as Westlaw and other research tools.
  • Client-focused with the ability to maintain strong relationships.
