Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a Senior Employment Attorney to provide expert legal counsel in employment law matters. This role involves handling litigation, advising on employment-related transactions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.

Duties:

  • Manage litigation, conduct legal research, and draft for class action and single-plaintiff cases, covering wage and hour violations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
  • Advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions, draft employment agreements, and negotiate termination/severance agreements.
  • Counsel on employment practices, including restrictive covenants, compensation plans, and employee policies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, lawyers, and business professionals through written correspondence and verbal consultations.
  • Produce high-quality work products within deadlines, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm standards.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and colleagues, maintaining professionalism and integrity.
  • Participate in digital/virtual conference calls and meetings and engage in sedentary activities like prolonged computer work.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California with active status.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in labor and employment law, encompassing litigation, transactional work, and advisory services.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, the California Labor Code, and discrimination statutes.
  • Experience handling class and collective actions, PAGA claims, and providing counsel on complex employment issues.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Sound business judgment and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently in a team environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including persuasive communication and the ability to influence others.

Skills:

  • Legal drafting and litigation management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide strategic advice.
