Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on various employee benefit matters, including retirement plans (defined contribution and defined benefit), employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), and executive compensation programs.
  • Draft, design, and implement employee benefit plans, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advise on mergers and acquisitions involving employee benefit issues, including plan design and structure.
  • Handle ERISA compliance and regulatory issues, ensuring clients meet federal and state requirements.
  • Assist with the resolution of employee benefit-related disputes and controversies.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop tailored solutions for employee benefit needs.
  • Provide strategic guidance on employee welfare plans and other compensation-related matters.

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of experience in employee benefits law, with a focus on ERISA and executive compensation.
  • Extensive experience in designing, drafting, and implementing employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements.
  • Expertise in handling employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and providing legal counsel to existing ESOPs.
  • Strong understanding of federal tax laws and regulations as they pertain to employee benefits.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal projects and client relationships effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, tax law, and employee benefit regulations.
  • Expertise in drafting legal documents and contracts related to employee benefits.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
