A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled Civil Defense Litigation Attorney to join its Southfield office. This role involves managing cases in insurance defense, premises liability, transportation, and general commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of litigation experience and be capable of handling cases independently in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This position offers opportunities for growth and development, with a hybrid work policy available following in-person training.

Duties

  • Manage litigation files through all stages, from initial filing to resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and responses.
  • Conduct all aspects of discovery, including depositions and drafting interrogatories and requests for production.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, such as motion hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and evidentiary hearings.
  • Communicate complex information effectively to clients and stakeholders through status reports and updates.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff on case management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience, including drafting pleadings, handling motions, conducting depositions, and case management.
  • Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and in good standing.
  • Strong persuasive writing, legal research, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving, decision-making, and professional judgment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership with the State Bar of Michigan.
