Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to join its team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will bring at least 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on both litigation and client counseling. This role involves advising clients on a wide range of employment-related matters, including discrimination, harassment, wage disputes, and compliance with state and federal laws. Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in labor and employment-related litigation, including defending claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and wage and hour disputes.
  • Handle negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations on behalf of clients.
  • Represent clients before administrative agencies such as the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB.
  • Provide legal counsel on compliance with state and federal employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and employee benefits.
  • Assist clients in developing and implementing workplace policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints and workplace disputes.
  • Provide training and guidance to clients on managing employees, avoiding litigation, and handling sensitive workplace issues.
  • Stay updated on changes in labor and employment law, advising clients proactively on potential business impacts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, with a focus on litigation and client counseling.
  • Strong background in defending claims related to discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and wrongful termination.
  • Proven experience in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and handling administrative matters before agencies like the EEOC, DOL, and NLRB.
  • In-depth understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.

Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of labor and employment law.
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation and administrative matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective client relationships.
  • Proficient in handling sensitive and confidential information.
