A law firm seeks an experienced attorney to focus on landlord-tenant and real estate matters. The role emphasizes representing property owners, landlords, and property managers in various legal proceedings and transactions. This position offers an opportunity to provide expert legal counsel while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Duties

  • Represent property owners, landlords, and property managers in landlord-tenant disputes, eviction cases, and real estate transactions.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on landlord-tenant laws, property regulations, and related issues, focusing on protecting clients' rights.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including lease agreements, eviction notices, settlement agreements, and real estate contracts.
  • Negotiate settlements and mediate disputes, advocating for clients' best interests during discussions and legal proceedings.
  • Represent clients in court, including preparing and presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and managing evidence during summary eviction cases.
  • Provide legal counsel on property management issues, lease obligations, and tenants' rights, helping clients make informed decisions.
  • Ensure clients' compliance with relevant legal procedures and regulations, mitigating potential legal risks in real estate transactions.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, maintaining detailed records and ensuring timely communication with clients and opposing counsel.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in landlord-tenant disputes, real estate law, and related legal proceedings.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues with professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
