A law firm in Mount Laurel, NJ, is seeking an Associate Attorney to oversee mortgage and lending client case portfolios. The role involves drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, managing case files, and representing clients in court proceedings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft legal pleadings, notices of hearings, motions, and orders related to mortgage and lending cases.
  • Research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes, and other legal documents.
  • Update the case management system promptly to maintain data integrity.
  • Travel to court for hearings and visit client sites as required.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, internal staff, and other stakeholders for efficient case management.
  • Identify legal issues requiring further review and ensure deadlines are met for pleadings.
  • Attend routine and litigation hearings, settlement conferences, oral arguments, and other court appearances.
  • Manage a high volume of case files with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review work prepared by paralegals and provide corrections as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey State Bar, active and in good standing.
  • Preferably, experience with default, eviction, and/or bankruptcy matters involving lenders and mortgage services in New Jersey.
  • Familiarity with client systems used in default services, such as Black Knight, is preferred.
  • Previous experience with electronic case management systems, especially CaseAware, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of laws related to mortgage and lending practice areas, legal codes, and court procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for interactions with attorneys, staff, and clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook and Word.
