Job Overview

A prominent national law firm is seeking a well-rounded and highly motivated mid-level associate with 3–5 years of public finance experience to join its Finance Practice Group. This position supports a robust and balanced public finance practice, with engagements spanning healthcare finance, economic development, housing, infrastructure, education, tax increment financing (TIF), and special assessment financing. The associate will work closely with clients including borrowers, issuers, and financial institutions in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Serve as bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel in a variety of public finance transactions

  • Represent clients including state agencies, municipalities, issuers, borrowers, underwriters, and financial institutions

  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal and financial transaction documents

  • Provide legal advice regarding tax, securities, UCC, and contract law in the context of public finance

  • Manage deal execution, due diligence, and closings

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients throughout all stages of a transaction

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in public finance law

  • Prior experience working with governmental and municipal clients

  • Hands-on experience serving as bond, lender’s, or disclosure counsel

  • Strong time management, organizational, and matter-handling skills

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Business law course concentration preferred

Certifications

  • Active and good-standing member of the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Timely admission to the Bar in the office location of hire will be required

Skills

  • Solid understanding of public finance structures and legal principles

  • Strong drafting, analytical, and legal research abilities

  • Familiarity with tax regulations, securities law, and UCC provisions
