The successful candidate will support patent attorneys in preparing, prosecuting, and managing patent applications, assisting clients in securing their innovations.

Duties

  • Collaborate with inventors to understand and document newly developed products
  • Identify potential patentable inventions through detailed research
  • Analyze existing patent data to guide clients in patent strategy
  • Draft patent applications under the guidance of the patent team
  • Monitor patent application progress from submission to granted patent
  • Conduct patentability searches and document findings regularly
  • Respond to client inquiries, offering innovative solutions and legal guidance
  • Address office actions and communicate with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Meet consistent billable hour targets as required by the firm

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of patent law and intellectual property
  • Experience working in the patent prosecution field, particularly with electrical engineering or biotechnology-related inventions
  • Familiarity with USPTO procedures and filing protocols
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work within a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a client-oriented approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field is required
  • Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in engineering, science, or a related field are a plus

Certifications

  • USPTO Registration is required or must be in the process of obtaining
