Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Healthcare Regulatory & Compliance Associate to provide legal counsel on regulatory and compliance matters related to healthcare providers. This position focuses on provider licensure, state and federal compliance, and reimbursement concerns. The firm represents a range of healthcare organizations, with a strong emphasis on reproductive health providers and primary care clinics, including both FQHC and non-FQHC clinics. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Medicare, Medi-Cal, Family PACT, provider audit appeals, investigations, and healthcare regulations.

Duties

  • Advise healthcare providers on licensure, enrollment, and compliance with state and federal laws.

  • Manage provider audit appeals and represent clients in investigations.

  • Draft, review, and update policies and procedures for healthcare organizations.

  • Provide guidance on regulatory matters including Stark/AKS, HIPAA/CMIA, minor consent laws, and telehealth policies.

  • Conduct legal research and deliver in-depth analysis on healthcare regulations.

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of compliance programs for healthcare providers.

  • Maintain proactive client communication and offer strategic legal advice on compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience handling healthcare regulatory and compliance issues.

  • Strong background in Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Family PACT regulations.

  • Knowledge of Stark/AKS, HIPAA/CMIA, minor consent rules, and telehealth compliance.

  • Experience managing provider audit appeals and conducting investigations.

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.

  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy abilities.

  • Demonstrated interest in health law and policy.

  • Experience working with healthcare providers or relevant government agencies is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in California.
