Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join their team in Tallahassee, FL. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in complex estate planning, asset protection planning, trust and estate settlement, and taxation. An LL.M. in Estate Planning or Taxation is required, and international estate planning experience is a plus.

Job Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive estate planning services to clients, including drafting wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Advise clients on asset protection strategies and implement plans to safeguard assets.
  • Manage trust and estate settlement processes, including probate and administration of estates.
  • Handle taxation matters related to trusts and estates, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting trusts and estates.
  • Represent clients in court for matters related to trusts and estates, as needed.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff to provide holistic legal services.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and understandably explaining complex legal concepts.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships to meet ongoing and future legal service needs.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in trusts and estates law.
  • Proven experience in complex estate planning, asset protection planning, trust and estate settlement, and taxation.
  • International estate planning experience is a plus.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • LL.M. in Estate Planning or Taxation.
  • Membership in The Florida Bar.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and cases simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • LL.M. in Estate Planning or Taxation.

Certifications:

  • Membership in The Florida Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate planning, asset protection, trust and estate settlement, and taxation.
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax laws related to trusts and estates.
  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Effective client communication and relationship management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
