Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Insurance Defense Litigation Attorney to join its legal team in San Diego, California. This role offers an opportunity to work on a diverse range of insurance defense matters, providing strategic legal counsel and litigation support. The firm is also open to considering associates to work in its Orange County and Los Angeles offices while supporting the San Diego team.

Duties:

  • Manage and litigate a broad spectrum of insurance defense cases, including:

    • Personal Injury: Handle high-exposure bodily injury claims, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and related disputes.

    • Habitability Claims: Defend property owners and landlords against allegations of unsafe or uninhabitable living conditions.

    • Toxic Tort Cases: Address claims involving alleged exposure to hazardous substances such as lead, mold, chemicals, carbon monoxide, PFAS, and liquid nitrogen.

    • Insurance Fraud Defense: Investigate and contest fraudulent claims to protect clients’ interests.

    • General Liability Matters: Represent clients in claims involving property damage, slip-and-fall accidents, and other negligence-based disputes.

    • Class Actions: Provide defense in class action lawsuits.

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and legal briefs.

  • Represent clients in court appearances, settlement conferences, mediations, and trial preparations.

  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients to align with their legal and business objectives.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and achieve successful outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in insurance litigation or related legal fields.

  • Strong knowledge of civil law, evidence codes, and dispute resolution processes.

  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Track record of securing favorable outcomes for clients.

  • Availability for occasional travel as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
