A law firm in San Francisco is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with prior employment litigation experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in California and have a background in handling various aspects of employment-related cases. This role involves extensive client contact, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, appearing in court, and drafting dispositive motions. Experience in trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred. Experience in the public sector is a plus.

Duties:

  • Conduct substantive witness interviews and manage discovery processes.
  • Take and defend depositions, and regularly appear in court to defend motions.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including demurrers, anti-SLAPP motions, motions for judgment, and motions for summary judgment.
  • Manage case files and oversee all aspects of case preparation and strategy.
  • Engage in extensive client contact, providing updates and legal advice.
  • Handle trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes as required.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members on case strategy and legal issues.
  • Prepare detailed legal documents and correspondence related to employment matters.
  • Keep current with developments in employment law and public sector regulations.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour, PAGA, and FSLA matters.
  • Experience in trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
  • Strong client management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to draft and argue dispositive motions.
  • Excellent organizational and case management skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA Accredited Law School.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar License in the state of California.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in employment litigation, including wage and hour disputes.
  • Proficiency in managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and drafting dispositive motions.
  • Strong analytical and research skills for preparing legal arguments and strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex litigation matters and work collaboratively with a legal team.
  • Experience in trial, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes is preferred.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
