A law firm seeks a Principal Attorney with extensive experience in international trade law to join its Business Practice Group in Washington, DC. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on sophisticated global transactions, assisting clients with complex international trade regulations, customs compliance, and trade agreements. The attorney will collaborate with a diverse team across various practice areas, offering comprehensive support to clients engaged in global trade.

Duties

  • Advise clients on customs and import control issues, including tariff classification, valuation, transfer pricing, and audits.
  • Counsel clients on compliance matters related to forced labor and customs enforcement of antidumping and countervailing duty orders.
  • Assist clients in navigating international trade regulations and interpreting trade agreements.
  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team to provide strategic legal solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients to address compliance and enforcement matters.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in international trade law, including customs and import control, tariff classification, valuation, transfer pricing, and compliance with antidumping and countervailing duties.
  • Portable Book of Business: Required.
  • Academic Credentials: JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic performance.
  • Licensing: Active law license.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, writing, and client-service abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client advisement and strategic counsel.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team as well as independently.
  • Project Management: Skilled in managing multiple projects with attention to detail and organization.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law.
