Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an Energy Associate Attorney to join its Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance team in Houston, TX. This role involves working on renewable energy projects, handling complex transactions, and advising clients on financing, acquisitions, and energy trading. The ideal candidate will have experience in renewable energy, project finance, and a commitment to working onsite.

Duties

  • Represent clients in the development, acquisition, and financing of renewable energy projects.
  • Advise on various aspects of energy transactions, including power purchase agreements, tax credits, and leasing.
  • Conduct due diligence for complex transactions on behalf of buyers, sellers, and financing parties.
  • Handle commercial lending, debt or equity project financing, and energy trading matters.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage project development, construction, and operational contracts.
  • Collaborate with a team to ensure compliance and effective project management for energy clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in renewable energy or a related field, preferably at a large law firm or as in-house counsel.
  • Experience with project finance, energy trading, commercial lending, and power purchase agreements.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Houston office.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top-tier accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Texas State Bar, in good standing.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of renewable energy transactions and project finance.
  • Excellent research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines.
