Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a Senior Associate with experience in finance or debt capital markets to join its tactical opportunities finance practice in New York. This role focuses on managing complex finance transactions, particularly for lenders, and involves working with financial institutions, private credit funds, hedge funds, and sponsors. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with distressed credit, liability management, and debt restructuring transactions.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Manage complex finance transactions, particularly on the lender side, from inception to close.
  • Work with both individual lenders and groups of creditors on front-end and back-end finance transactions.
  • Advise on distressed credit, bespoke finance, and liability management transactions.
  • Conduct covenant reviews, collateral analysis, and advise on intercreditor and subordination arrangements.
  • Collaborate with financial institutions, private credit funds, hedge funds, and sponsors/private companies.
  • Originate new finance transactions while managing existing capital structures.
  • Lead and mentor mid-level and junior associates in managing transactions.

Requirements:

  • Several years of experience managing complex finance transactions, preferably on the lender side.
  • Strong knowledge of distressed credit, debt restructuring, and liability management transactions.
  • Experience leading multiple finance or debt capital market transactions (High Yield) from inception to close.
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of financial clients and think creatively.
  • Prior law firm experience is required.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing associates.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, drafting, and transaction management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex deals and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
