Job Overview:
A reputable law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation and insurance defense. This position involves comprehensive case management, legal strategy development, and client communication, focusing on civil litigation and insurance defense. Location:

  • San Diego, CA

Duties:

  • Analyze legal and factual issues and conduct comprehensive legal research.
  • Develop and present defense strategies independently on behalf of clients.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery requests, depositions, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct depositions of relevant parties as required.
  • Provide timely and effective communications and legal advice to clients.
  • Coordinate regularly with client representatives and adjusters regarding case status.
  • Liaise professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
  • Manage cases efficiently, aiming for effective and prompt case dispositions.
  • Appear in court as required for case representation.
  • Assist in trial preparation, witness preparation, and evidence presentation.
  • Accurately record billable hours and tasks, meeting monthly billing targets (average 175 hours/month).

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in litigation and insurance defense or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Capacity to make in-person and virtual court appearances as needed.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal technology/software.
  • Availability to travel for court appearances, client meetings, and other legal settings.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at a desk and maintain focus during document review.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar (required) and/or Nevada State Bar (preferred).

  • Exceptional legal writing and strong verbal communication skills.
  • Sharp analytical abilities and acute attention to detail.
  • Capability to work under pressure and manage high-stress situations effectively.
